EPISODE SUMMARY:

Even the most obscure, pretentious, arthouse media has some ties to the mainstream. Art rockers The Velvet Underground rose to national notoriety, despite meager album sales, due to their connection with pop art icon Andy Warhol. But singer Lou Reed originally got his start as a songwriter trying to crank out hits. Which may be why their 1968 album White Light/White Heat is such a reaction against traditional record-making. At the very least, comedian Wayne Federman found it a little hard to listen to, though still impressive overall.
