EPISODE SUMMARY:

Sometimes a song is more than a song, it's a message from a specific moment in time or a statement on the world in which it was written. Sometimes an artist channels the circumstances they see around them and explains hardship, struggle and love they see better than any news report or novel can. All of that is true of the political rap group Public Enemy. Their 1990 album Fear of a Black Planet represented comedian Tony Rock's experience growing up in New York City more than anything he had heard before it. And to this day he feels its message still holds true.
