EPISODE SUMMARY:

There are a million different ways to live a life, and some are far less glamorous than others. But eccentric troubadour Tom Waits has never shied away from the countless stories of sadness, corruption and the truly bizarre that make up large parts of the human experience. The smooth, lounge act feel of his early albums, like 1974's The Heat of Saturday Night, doesn't even really begin to fully plumb the depths of his weirdness. Yet the songs still spin evocative yarns about the darker, seedier side of life in a way no one else can. And it's precisely this true-to-life quality that first hooked comedian Forrest Shaw, who was experiencing what the music was describing every day.
