EPISODE SUMMARY:

As with all aspects of cultural history, the various genres of music have taken many twists and turns to reach their current state as we know them. While many bands may get overlooked and perhaps even lost to sands of time, there is no denying that we would not have the sounds we enjoy today without the groundwork these groups laid. Take for example British rockers The Yardbirds. At various points in their career, their members included three of the greatest guitarists ever, and their albums, including 1965's Having a Rave Up, bridged the gap between classic R&B and the psychedelic craze that followed. So to a music history lover like comedian Wayne Federman, author of the new book The History of Stand-Up: From Mark Twain to Dave Chappelle, they will always be an essential part of our collective past.
