EPISODE SUMMARY:
To say that Randy Newman contains multitudes may be the understatement of the century. The man defies categorization, having scored films, crafted funky rock and folk Americana albums, and even regrettably dabbled in hip hop. He also bounces between heartfelt personal drama and scathing satirical wit without ever feeling out of place at either end of that spectrum, as in the case of his 1970 album 12 Songs. And if that doesn't say enough about him, he's also a major inspiration to eclectic comedy auteur Tim Heidecker. The comedian, actor and director admires Newman for doing what no one else has ever been able to truly duplicate, the same of which could be said about Heidecker's many projects, including Tom Goes to the Mayor, Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!, and Tim & Eric's Bedtime Stories.
