EPISODE SUMMARY:
The claim of "You gotta see them live" may not ring any truer than for heavy metal icons Van Halen, who blasted onto the LA music scene at a time when the glamorous, strutting sexuality of guitar-focused rock seemed to be dwindling from existence, blowing life into the genre with performances that reached mythic acclaim. Though their road to stardom may have seemed stalled and uncertain at first, Eddie Van Halen's guitar and "Diamond" David Lee Roth's howling vocals on their 1978 self-titled debut shot them to eventual super stardom, leaving their mark on the world to this day. The same goes for Patrick Wilson, whose meticulous drumming helped craft the intelligent power pop that made the band Weezer an international household name.
