EPISODE SUMMARY:

It’s a sad truth of the world that the stars that shine the brightest often don’t burn for very long. But that may be what makes singular artists like Buddy Holly so special. Though we were robbed of whatever musical heights he might have ascended to after he died at the tender age of 23, his impact on the direction of rock ‘n roll specifically, as seen through his own work and that of his first group The Crickets, is still felt today. The band’s debut album The “Chirping” Crickets first reached the ears of celebrated voice actor Tom Kenny nearly twenty years after its release in 1957. And The Cricket’s youthful exuberance and sheer joy for life can still be felt in all of Tom’s much beloved characters, including Heffer Wolfe from Rocko’s Modern Life, the Ice King from Adventure Time and international fan favorite Spongebob Squarepants.
