When you think about it, there's probably at least one song or celebrity or even just passing reference to a cultural phenomena that appears in your life constantly, showing up briefly, where you least expect it, but often enough to give you pause. You know you recognize it, but you're not sure from where. Trip-hop as a genre, and the British group that spearheaded the musical style, Portishead, are a perfect example. The cinematic qualities, eerie atmospherics and hauntingly beautiful songcraft of their 1994 debut album Dummy allow them to simultaneously disappear into the background while also creeping into our collective consciousness, filling it with both lust, sadness and dread. Comedian and actor Jamie Kennedy is surprisingly similar in that regard, having made countless appearances in films like Romeo + Juliet, Malibu's Most Wanted and the Scream franchise, as well as The Jamie Kennedy Experience TV series. His contribution to the cultural canon is as ubiquitous as it is indisputable.
