EPISODE SUMMARY:
Without our past we are nothing, and comedian Bill Burr has a great memory. He remembers how the nearly 30 years he has spent diligently pursuing his life’s work have been full of as many late night bull sessions with friends after sets and fresh cans of Miller High Life for breakfast, as they have been filled with petty grudges and broken relationships. And he fully appreciates that with successes such as appearing in Disney’s The Mandalorian and releasing countless stand-up specials, including 2019’s Paper Tiger on Netflix, there is also heartbreak and painful self-discovery. That is why he has such respect for Peter Wolf, who rose to popularity as Boston-area radio DJ in the 1960s, then lead singer for The J. Geils Band, before striking out on his own. Burr and Wolf have both reached the status of elder statesmen in their chosen fields, befitting of the grown-up blues of Wolf’s 2002 release Sleepless.
